Deputy Nursery Manager Job in Huddersfield | £28,500 | Full-Time
About the Nursery
About the Role
Are you an experienced Early Years practitioner ready to take the next step in your leadership career? Or perhaps you are an established Deputy looking for a fresh, exciting setting? We are seeking an enthusiastic and supportive Deputy Nursery Manager to join our leadership team.
In this role, you will be the right-hand support to our Nursery Manager, helping to lead our fantastic team and maintain our high standards. We need someone who loves being hands-on and is genuinely willing to support the nursery in all aspects—from mentoring room leaders and stepping into the rooms, to enjoying our incredible outdoor space alongside the children and handling day-to-day administration.
In addition to supporting the day-to-day management, we are ideally looking for an experienced SENCo, or someone with a strong passion for inclusion who is fully willing to train as our nursery SENCo to ensure every child receives the tailored support they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
-
Management Support: Work closely with the Nursery Manager to oversee the daily running of the nursery, stepping up to lead the setting in their absence.
- SENCo Leadership: Act as the nursery SENCo (or train to become one), leading on inclusion, creating targeted support plans, and working closely with external professionals and families to support children with additional needs.
- Team Mentoring: Act as a role model and mentor for our dedicated and friendly staff team, ensuring high-quality practice across all age rooms.
-
All-Around Support: Demonstrate a flexible, "can-do" approach, balancing office-based management tasks with hands-on support on the nursery floor.
-
Enriched Learning: Help design and implement a fun, stimulating curriculum that maximizes our incredible outdoor area.
-
Parent Partnerships: Maintain warm, open communication with parents and carers, helping to foster our close-knit, community feel.
-
Safeguarding: Support the implementation of robust safeguarding practices to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child.
What We Are Looking For
-
Experience: Proven experience as a Senior Room Leader or existing Deputy Manager looking for a new challenge.
- SENCo Focus: Previous experience as an Early Years SENCo is highly preferred, but we are absolutely open to candidates with a strong interest in inclusion who are fully willing to undergo SENCo training.
-
Qualifications: A minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years (Level 4 or a Degree is highly desirable).
-
Mindset: A warm, flexible, and proactive attitude with a genuine willingness to roll up your sleeves and support the team wherever needed.
-
Passion: A deep passion for Early Years education and a desire to create a fun, stimulating environment where children thrive.
-
Knowledge: Strong, practical knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding regulations, and Ofsted inspection frameworks.
What’s on Offer
-
A competitive salary of £28,500 per year.
-
The chance to help lead a nursery with an unrivalled outdoor area and a fantastic local reputation.
-
A supportive, warm, and genuinely friendly working environment.
